The daily challenge: Drawing a portrait

Drawing a new portrait for 30 days - that sounds like a simple task, but in reality there is much more to it. Each portrait tells its own story and as an artist I try to express that story in my drawing. Some of the portraits were created from old, faded photos of deceased people, others were based on several photographs that were put together to create a single harmonious image. This diversity made the project a deeply moving and exciting journey.

Why a hand-drawn portrait?

A portrait is much more than just a picture of the face. It captures the soul, the emotions and the uniqueness of a person. When you have a portrait drawn , you get not just a representation, but a work of art that is created to last forever. Pencil drawings are particularly popular because they bring the personality of the person being portrayed to life through fine shading and details.

Drawing a portrait from several templates

One of my favorite tasks was drawing portraits based on several templates. This allowed me to bring together people who were never in the same photo - whether due to time or distance. Drawing a portrait from several images offers the opportunity to unite family or friends in one image. Portraits of deceased people are particularly touching, as they can be "together" once again in this way.

30 Portraits, 30 Stories
